American Cowman  
American Cowman is a web site created especially for family farms with up to 100 head of cattle. Their goal is to offer timely, practical production and management strategies that will add efficiency, value, and profitability to cattle herds with up to 100 head. The site features a production management “tip of the week,” industry news, new products and spotlights upcoming events, beef industry commentaries, and value added ideas for small family farms. Other special features include a library of informative articles on facilities, nutrition, animal health, pasture and range management and genetics. Profiles of real producers are also included. 
Beef Cattle Clearing House  
A clearing house of beef cattle information through the eXtension portal, provided by experts from the Cooperative Extension System throughout the United States.

This website, from the Department of Animal Sciences at Colorado State University, shows the effects of mating various bulls to your herd.

Beef Stocker USA  
This website was designed specifically for beef producers who background and/or run stocker or yearling cattle on various forages. It is in partnership with BEEF magazine and colleges and universities across the nation to serve as a convenient location to disseminate information and news that affects the industry. 
Cattle Care Guidelines  
Sound animal husbandry practices, based on decades of practical experience and research, are known to impact the well-being of cattle, individual animal health and herd productivity. There is not one specific set of production practices that can be recommended for all cattle producers. These guidelines are just that — suggested guidelines. Personal experience, training and professional judgment can serve as a valuable resource for providing proper animal care. 
Cattle Feeding Return Risk Analyzer©  
The Cattle Feeding Return Risk Analyzer©, from NAIBER, was designed to provide a market-based, research-grounded estimate of the risk facing cattle feeders who are placing cattle on feed. The computer-based tool is intended to enhance cattle feeder ability to identify the sources of risk and to comprehend the nature of the financial risks associated with cattle feeding. In addition, the tool should be useful to other individuals with a stake in risk associated with fed cattle production, including lenders, management consultants, and input suppliers. 
Cattle Learning Center  
The Cattle Learning Center was developed by a partnership with National Cattlemen’s Foundation and Pfizer Animal Health. Its mission is to help producers make informed business decisions and improve management practices while increasing overall consumer confidence in America’s beef supply. The Cattle Learning Center includes in-depth, self-paced learning tools for producers covering topics such as animal health, nutrition, risk management, biosecurity, estate planning and more.

Focus on Feedlots  
Created in 1990 at Kansas State University to provide basic feedlot performance data for steers and heifers, and feed ingredient prices. Each month, closeout data from various Kansas feedlots are summarized to provide average values for days on feed, average daily gain, harvest weight, dry matter feed conversion, cost of gain, and death loss, as well as corn and alfalfa hay prices. 
International Conference on the Use of Antimicrobials in Cattle Production  
This conference, from the Beef Cattle Institute, is designed to educate consumers, producers, and veterinarians about the use of antimicrobials in cattle production. A pre-conference workshop on the beef and dairy cattle industry and the methods used in studying antimicrobial resistance will be held in conjunction with the conference. 
International Symposium on Beef Cattle Welfare  
This symposium, sponsored by the Beef Cattle Institute at Kansas State University, provided a venue to highlight the world’s experts on beef cattle welfare. Producers, nutritionists, and veterinarians spoke on current issues in the beef industry. The speaker list also included people in policy making positions within the federal government, professional societies and industry commodity groups. Lead research specialists from around the globe discussed current research findings and future research needs in beef cattle behavior and welfare. 
Iowa Beef Center  
The Iowa Beef Center at Iowa State University was formed in 1996 in order to support the growth and vitality of the state's beef industry. Team members include on-campus faculty and staff as well as ISU Extension specialists across the state. The Center offers a wide range of services, including on-farm consultations, demonstrations, educational programs and more. The website includes a calendar, upcoming events and current information on all aspects of the beef industry in Iowa.

Recommendations for the Care and Handling of Beef Cattle

Reference Guide for Texas Ranchers  
At any given time, a ranch manager may be making decisions concerning care and management of livestock, control of noxious plants, use of fire to improve forage quality or reseeding of native pasture. The purpose of this reference guide, from the Texas Agricultural Extension Service, is to consolidate some of the basic information ranch managers need for proper decision making.

Associations and Organizations

Beef Improvement Federation (BIF)
The federation represents over 40 state and national beef cattle associations. It was formed as a means to standardize programs and methodology and to create greater awareness, acceptance and useage of beef cattle performance concepts. Selection based on objective measures has withstood the test of time and continues to undergo scrutiny by researchers, organizations and the ultimate judge, beef cattle producers. The site includes links to breed associations, pages with information regarding the upcoming convention and access to the proceedings of the organization's meetings from 1969 to date. The older proceedings are downloaded as a single file while the most current proceedings are available as separate downloads for individual papers.
BEEF.ORG - National Cattlemen's Beef Association
Beef.org is the homepage of the National Cattlemen's Beef Association (NCBA), the site contains information on Cattle Industry Conventions and Meetings, NCBA government affairs efforts, cattle industry news, addresses and links to members of the Federation of State Beef Councils and other informaion. It also provides access to web sites funded by the Cattlemen's Beef Board and the Federation of State Beef Councils.
U. S. Meat Export Federation
The U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF) is a nonprofit trade association working to create new opportunities and develop existing international markets for U.S. beef, pork, lamb and veal. The site provides information regarding animal health and meat nutrition, world economic trade analysis and data, as well as multi-language international meat manuals. USDA and other government regulations for meat plant safety and quality control are also available along with scientific research papers from government, university and industry experts on meat producing, trading, processing and packing.
United States Cattlemen's Association
Website devoted to the aims of the Association -- "To present an effective voice for the United States cattle industry. USCA is dedicated to, and focused on, efforts in Washington, DC to further the interests of cattle producers on mandatory country of origin labeling, international trade, market competition, reform of the mandatory beef checkoff, animal health, welfare and identification, private property rights and other issues that affect the U.S. cattle industry." The site features current news of interest, the policies and by-laws of the organization, a virtual library on current cattle industry issues, a list of officers and committees, committee chairs and members and other items of interest.
